BQ79631-Q1: Spec requirements

Part Number: BQ79631-Q1

Hi TI Team,

I'd like to ask you on BQ79631-Q1 that can be met the spec requirements below. Please check it and let me know.

1. Current measurement : Current range(±600A), Accuracy(0.5 %, Primary /1.0%, Secondary), Response time(1msec), ASIL level(ASIL-D)

2. Voltage measurement : Sensing point(2 points, QC+/QC-), Voltage range(460V to 900V), Accuracy(±1.5%), ASIL level(ASIL-B)

3. Temperature measurement : 6 points for hotspot temperature

4. Pyro trigger : Technical materials for Pyro switch control

Regards,

Jeffrey

  • HI Jeffrey,

    1. For current range it depends on your shunt resistance. Effective input range of the CSADC is +-100mV. The 0.5% gain error can be achieved after calibration. Measurement time is configurable, including 1msec. CSADC support ASIL-D

    2. Voltage range /Accuracy would depends on the HW setup(The resistor divider ratio, resistance value etc. ). The VC ADC itself error for VC channel is about +-3mV.

The BQ79631 can support ASIL B for voltage sensing, there are CB channels(CB0-CB3 available for BQ79631) for redundancy.

    3. The BQ79631 have 8 GPIO ports that can support temperature measurement.

    4. How would like to control or triggers your pyros? The BQ79631 don't have a dedicate Over Current output pin, refer to datasheet "9.2.1.2.5 Overcurrent Detection Scheme Using OVUV Comparators" for overcurrent configuration.

    thanks

  • Hi Ted,

Additionally, I want to know something below.

    1. Any other device to meet these requirements except for BQ79631 and the application circuit to meet these requirements.

    2. How to implement ASIL-D on current measurement and how to implement ASIL-B on voltage measurement.

    Regards,

  • Jeffrey,

    1) Not that I can tell.

    2) After signing master NDA with TI, we can provide access to a functional safety manual that explains the safety diagnostics needed to perform to implement ASIL ratings.

    Regards,

    Taylor

  • Hi Taylor,

Thank your for your response. I have one more question to understand clearly.

    1. You mean that there is no device that can meet there requirements except for BQ79631, right? Is there the reference design materials for this application?

    2. I will discuss with my local sales team of TI for this NDA.

    Regards,

  • Jeffrey,

Thats correct. Further materials can be requested on the product folder page www.ti.com/.../BQ79631-Q1. There is a button in blue to get approved to access them.

    Regards,

    Taylor

  • Hi Taylor,

As you told me on previous post, after signing master NDA with TI, who should I request a functional safety manual to? my local TI sales team?

    Regards,

  • Jeffrey,

Yes thats correct. Once sales team confirms NDA they will reach out to us to approve request for the safety manual.

    Regards,

    Taylor
