UCC28600: UCC28600D PWR050 Simulation using ORCAD

Dear members,

I found this document somewhere on internet (and I couldn't remember where exactly)

I think that it might be the circuit that I need for a flyback power supply. For making sure I tried to simulate it by ORCAD. I know that there is a problem with transformer but I can't solve it. this is the simulation that I made in ORCAD.

I have to main questions:

In the SCH attached the pin STATUS is NC. I don't know if it is disturbing the simulation.
For T1 I calculate the ratio to be 1:1 for the upper stage and 16:1 for the below one. I'm not sure. Besides I don't know if I can use what (XFRM_LINEAR) I used in ORCAD.

Any recommendation would be extremly appreciated.

As it is on the SCH pdf of TI that I attached peviously. Input 400V and output 12V. If it can help, you can find the simulation attached.

Hello,

In selecting the transformer magnetizing inductance it is required to know the output power requirements.

I do have a suggestion. You might want to check your design vs what Webench design tool calculates for your power requirements. The following link will take you a product page where you can find the Webench design tool. It is near the bottom of the product page.

Dear Mike,

I have used Webench many times. What I'm trying to simulate is a TI design. In the first post I publicated this design too. The title is "UCC28600EVM-400V-12V". And I don't have any other info. In my design I need 4A and 12V at the output and because of that I think this design can help me. I need to simulate it first.

Hello,

I was able to open up the model in TI PSpice without issue. I just had to update the library.

You might want to give that a try.

Hello Mike,

I updated the cache and as you told it solved the problem. But unfortunately I have problem with converging that I can't solve.

I tried to change the convergence different values but it didn't work.

The other question is that I left the Status pin NC and I wanna know if it can generate the problem.

Hello,

It seems like you were able to get the simulation to work.

Convergence issues are common with PSpice modeling and generally can be resolved by setting initial conditions of components; such as, current and voltage.
