BQ25892: DPM function check

Part Number: BQ25892

Hi Sir,

We have several questions about DPM operation, please check below list.
If FORCE_VINDPM bit to 0, then VINDPM_OS to 11111 and VBUS is 9V.
1. What’s the value of VINDPM threshold?
2. Is it 6.2V?
3. And if yes, how can I know the DPM operation will be?
4. Should I refer Figure 9-3 of datasheet?
5. If VBUS drops to 6.1V, how about the charging current will be?
6. Did you have a timing diagram about the DPM operation? Such as VBUS drops to 6.1V and after how many seconds that charging current will be decreased by charger?

  • Hi,

    1. When VBUS at noLoad is > 6V, the VINDPM_OS multiple by 2 is used to calculate VINDPM threshold, i.e. VINDPM = VBUS@noLoad-2*VINDPM_OS.

    2. It should not be.

    3. During DPM mode, the status register bits VDPM_STAT (VINDPM) and/or IDPM_STAT (IINDPM) is/are set high.

    4. Check the status register bits VDPM_STAT (VINDPM) and/or IDPM_STAT (IINDPM).

    5. When DPM is triggered, the device first reduces the charge current until the input current falls below the input current limit and the input voltage rises above the input voltage limit. When the charge current is reduced to zero, but the input source is still overloaded, the system voltage starts to drop. Once the system voltage falls below the battery voltage, the device automatically enters the supplement mode.

    6. Please refer to Figure 10-6 and Figure 10-7.

Please feel free to evaluate the EVM to get familiar with the charger operations.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
