Paralleling TPS2561/TPS2560 Power Switches...

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2043, TPS2560, TPS2561

Hi,

For redundancy, my application requires that both channels of a TPS2561will be connected to separate supplies, but both channels (OUT1 & OUT2) are connected to the same load. Either or both channels may be enabled at the same time. Are there any limitations to consider when paralleling device channels in this way?

Thanks,

James.

  • The two IN lines are connected together. These are not separate inputs. You could use two TPS2560 and tie the 4 outputs together and enable one part (E1 and E2) or the other. When both parts are enabled, the higher voltage output would turn off the TPS2561 of the  the lower voltage output.. There are other parts like TPS2043 that are duals but the reverse current may be a problem when the part is unpowered.
