TPS7A45: Does TPS7A45 meet below requirements?

Part Number: TPS7A45

Hi Team,

Vin=13V, Vout=12V, Iout_avg=400mA,(Ipulse=1.9A@20ms), Does TPS7A45 meet the requirements? I don't see a description of transient capability in Datasheet. Please help to recommend the most suitable device. Thanks

    Hi Dillen,

    The limiting factor for TPS7A45 in the application that you described is the current limit, and because of the current limit this device will not work here.

    I looked through our portfolio and I don't think there is a device that can support this application. The issue is the 1.9A pulsed current with the relatively large input/output voltage; we have a lot of good high-current devices that can easily support 1.9A (continuous), but they are all low-VIN devices. 

    Another alternative is to parallel 2 of these devices so that each one operates within its specified output current range. Let me know if this idea would be of interest.
