LMR14050-Q1: How to stop sleep mode

I'm using the LMR14050-Q1 for our prototyping.

It seems that the sleep mode is activated due to the fluctuation of the current load, but this causes the following two problems.

1. Large ripple on the LMR14050 input power supply when exiting sleep mode. This can cause devices connected to the power supply to malfunction.

2. Since the sleep mode ON-OFF frequency is in the audible band, the inductor makes a loud noise.

As a fundamental countermeasure, I would like to stop sleep mode, but what should I do?

    Hello,

    The LMR14050-Q1 does not have a forced PWM feature.

    You can increase the minimum load with a passive load resistor to dissipate ~100mA and see if that improves your operation. However this will decrease your efficiency.

    There shouldn't be much audible noise, be sure you have a good layout following the layout guidelines in section 10.2.

    Specifically your SW node copper should be small and your FB resistors should be close to the IC.

    Improving the layout should also improve the ripple.

    Hi Minoru,

    LM63460-Q1, LM64460-Q1, and LM76005-Q1 both have FPWM option.

    Note the LM63460-Q1 will require specific IC number.
