LM5006: The max Irush of LM5006

Part Number: LM5006

Hi Team,

In the start up of LM5006, Will the inductor current be strictly less than Ilimt?

Since the LM5006 has a certain response time, within the response time, the inductor current rises, will it be able to drop to less than Ilimt within the next toff?

Will the following situation occur?

Regards,

Charlie

  • Hello Charlie,

This situation should not occur. The once the current limit is tripped, the off time will be extended so the current ramps down to safe level. The off time extension depends on the feedback voltage. See page 13 of the datasheet where the current limit operation is discussed.
