Hello Everyone,
We are working on a 16S BQ76952-based design, with a high-side FET drive. We have a few questions regarding the reference design TIDA-010208:

Why do we need an Ultrafast diode Between Pack+ and Pack-? Is there any risk if we use a general-purpose diode here?
The reference design shows the main fuse before the protection FETs (Bat+ side). We have been using the main fuse after the protection FETs (Pack+ side). In your opinion, is there any risk in our approach?

Hi,

1. The D47 diode between Pack+ and Pack- will short a reversed charger to protect the pack electronics. This may be good to have if the selected charger shuts down in the case of a short detected.

2. The BQ76952 supports both options for the fuse location. See the description of the [PACK_FUSE] bit in the Protection Configuration register which should be set in this case.
