TPS1HC100-Q1: RILIM resistor size if want to set current limit at 20mA

Part Number: TPS1HC100-Q1

According to the CurrentLimit Ratio (KCL) provided, if we want to set current limit to 20mA, the RILIM = KCL/ILIM = 49/0.02 = 2.45M ohm.

1. Is it possible to set the current limit down to 20mA? Does 2.45M ohm resistor make sense? What is the RILIM range that the device can do the current limit functionality correctly?

2. The datasheet mentions it can do current sensing accurately down to 5mA with 75% accuracy. Does that mean even though 20mA current limit may not achievable (above question) but 20mA current sensing with 25% accuracy is available?

Thanks

  • Hi Qingxuan,

    1. No it wouldn't be possible as it would be defined as out of range for the resistance above 71.5kohm.

    2. You are correct. The current sensing at 20mA would be available at 15% accuracy.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

    Regards,

    Yichi
