Hi team,

Can I use TPS61169 to charge lithium-ion batteries?

◆SPEC
Li-ion : 2cell(8.4V)
Charge current : 500mA
Vin : 5V

If it is available, I'd like to see the reference circuits.

Sorry we don't have the reference design for TPS61169 to be a battery charger.

Hi Kengo,

In my understanding, Li-ion battery charging has several progress like CC and CV. But with TPS61169 can only achieve CC mode. So I don't think it's a good choice.

Why don't you consider using the charger IC directly?

Since charging IC are very expensive, I was considering LED drivers that can be CC.
