LP55231: 1uF flying capacitors

Genius 16880 points
Part Number: LP55231

Hi all

My customer is working on a design with the LP55231SQX/NOPB and they have this question:

Is it ok to use 1uF 10V for the flying capacitors ?

This will help them reduce the BOM lines for their assembly.

The datasheet specifies at least 0.24uF effective capacitance and 0.47uF are depicted in the typical application schematic.

Best regards

Ueli

  • Hi Ueli,

Nice to hear you. The device can work with 1uF capacitors, but it will be better to follow our recommend value for more suitable operation, because the value of capacitor may effect the charge- discharge time of charge pump.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Ives

Thank you for the quick reply and this first comment.

Can you be more specific as to the disadvantage the use of 1uF capacitors would have ?

    Best regards

    Ueli

  • Hi Ueli,

Our device LP55231 has charge pump function, and the larger capacitor value may cause the charge-discharge time of charge pump be delayed.

So, we suggest you use the recommend value 0.47uF to let the device work properly.

    Thanks!
