TLV61070A: Noise during boost operation

Part Number: TLV61070A

Hi,

We are planning to use the TLV61070A boost to generate 5VDC from a Li-Ion battery (3.2V to 4.2V).

We are testing the device witht he Tlv61070aEVM  .

These are the testing conditions:

  • Vin: 3.4Volt
  • Iin: 76mA
  • Vout :5.172 Volt
  • Iout : 50mA

We see that there is significant noise both at the output and the input of this device.

In the following figure you can see in yellow the output voltage, and in blue the input voltage. Both of them AC coupled in the scope.

You can see that at the output there are peaks that can reach 200mV.

Can you suggest which filters or capacitors to add, to reduce these noises, both at the input and the output?

Thanks,

Leo.

  • Hi Leo,

It seems that the large output voltage spike is cause by noise, not ripple.

How did you measure the output voltage ripple? It'd better to use smallest ring like below to avoid the impact of high frequency noise.

And more, I noted that input voltage is not very stable, this may also make impact on output voltage ripple, you can try to add a large input capacitor.

    Regards,

    Nathan
