BQ78350-R1: Battery pack BQ78350-R1 & BQ7693003 exit from Shutdown

Part Number: BQ78350-R1

Hi,

I would like to ask about exit from Shutdown mode:

1. Can you better explain the "Charger Present Threshold" value activation/ impact?, if inserting lower value, can this change the exit from Shutdown conditions/ behavior?

2. What is the minimal time (or conditions) we can communicate the BMS via SMBus after exit from shutdown scenario?

3. What will happened if SMBus communication will be present during BMS exit from shutdown scenario? is it legally or can stuck something in the BMS power up/ exit from shutdown normal conditions?

  • 1. Charger Present Threshold is the minimum value at which the gauge "detects " that a charger is present. This impacts entry into shutdown mode. As per TRM section 8.4 SHUTDOWN Mode , exit from Shutdown mode happens only when Voltage at TS1 pin > VBOOT

    2. Wait 600ms before communicating. Data read may not be valid until 4 seconds have passed

    3. The behavior is not defined, so you may see errors. Unless there is back power through SMBus lines(or other design issues), communication will resume when the gauge is ready.
