TPS65982-EVM: USB 2.0 will not enumerate

Part Number: TPS65982-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982, , TPS65987

I have a USB 2.0 device connected to the mux on the TPS65982-EVM through the header pins and have been unsuccessful getting the USB 2.0 bus to enumerate. I have been trying to configure the TPS65982 with the TI TPS6598X Application Customization tool over i2C as a source and UFP (this will be the only configuration used). The error message I see is:

[23944.521109] usb 1-1: new low-speed USB device number 120 using xhci_hcd
[23944.653304] usb 1-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71

Please provide a configuration or some advice on what I should try next. Thanks as always!!

  • Hi Michael,

I am looking into this and will provide a response by Wednesday Janaury 25th, 2023. Thank you for your patience!

  • Hi Michael,

Are you using GUI to configure device and can you ensure you are using the latest FW patch?

Is there any specific reason you are using TPS65982? This is a NRND device and we now promote TPS65987!

  • Hey Brandon-

I saw that TPS65982 was readily available, used in similar applications and was supposed to perform the functions necessary. I also purchased a TPS65987EVM, so my question above will relate to that part as well.

I am using the TPS6598x Application Customization tool over an Aardvark i2C port. Could you tell me what the latest FW is and where I can find it?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Michael,

Since we have shifted this to an NRND device I would recommend using TPS65987 as this device will recieve more attention and support in the future!

The latest FW for this device is FW Verion 0001.12.11. This can be seen in the GUI when you load a new project for the TPS65982 device.

The latest FW version for TPS65987: f707.10.10

Also, please ensure you are configuring to the correct I2C address as on the board.

    TPS65987:
