BQ78350-R1: about BQ78350 two question

Part Number: BQ78350-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76940, BQ78350, BQ76930,

Dear TI expert,

I now use BQ78350+BQ76940 to design a battery management system with 12S of low-side drive. I have two questions to ask:

1.about the bq76930/76940 EVM, when use the precharge function, i see use one MMBTA92 which is one 300V PNP  transistor,  why select very high voltage transistor?

2. another question, about communication line protection components

in SLUSE05 page 21, has the following description

The 5.6-V Zener diodes, which protect the BQ78350-R1A communication pins from ESD, must be located as close as possible to the pack connector. The grounded end of these Zener diodes must be returned to the PACK(–) node, rather than to the low-current digital ground system. This way, ESD is diverted away from the sensitive electronics as much as possible.

currently i use low side control, i use the TI TPD1E10B06DPYT which should connect PACK- or battery-?

have a nice day!
