UCC27524: Can INA and INB of UCC27524 be used in parallel?

Part Number: UCC27524
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27624, UCC27614

Hi expert,

If UCC27524 only uses one channel, can INA and INB be used in parallel? What parameters should be paid attention to during design? Thanks.

  • Hi, Hangjie,

  • Hi Hangjie,

If you mean to only use one channel of the two, then I would recommend grounding the input of the unused channel. If you mean connecting the outputs in parallel to increase the driver strength, then you can connect the inputs.

If doing that, I recommend reading this FAQ on this subject.

The main thing to watch is the delay matching (if one channel is high and the other is low, there is risk for a shoot-through). The other thing is to ensure the input pins are well matched. Having a faster signal on the inputs can also minimize the effect of slight difference in threshold voltage. Lastly, I would consider using UCC27624, which has a better worst-case delay matching, or UCC27614, which is a stronger single channel driver.

    Thanks,

    Alex M.
