Hi Abhishek,
Using PFET, R113and D101 looks like you are trying to achieve input reverse polarity protection. You can replace your circuit with LM74500-Q1 + NFET to achieve small solution size and better cold crank performance. For more understanding, please refer to section '2 Reverse Battery Protection' of Basics of Ideal Diodes Application note.
Hi Praveen,
Actually I was more concerned about the the OPAMP part.
I'm not sure how to choose the opamp in reference to the working.
Actually my main application is that I have battery and external supply for my application. So, I need to turn off the battery supply when external supply is given.
I have tried to make some logic. I have provided circuit diagram below.
Hi Abhishek,
Looks like the attachment you have shared did not come through. Please share it again using Insert--> Image/video/file option.
From your description it is understood that you need Priority power Muxing. Please refer to section '9.5 Priority Power MUXing' of TPS25947 Datasheet.
TPS25947 can handle voltages up to 23V and 5.5A through it. Can you let us know the Battery Voltage, external supply voltage and the max load current in each path so that I will be able to propose the right device.
Hi Praveen,
Actually I was trying to implement this circuit, In this I am planning to turn off the battery supply automatically whenever external supply on is detected and to apply that I have tried to make this logic. Can you please help me with the design part. I have also attached the image for for better understanding.
Above figure is the hand drawn schematic for the application. Please help with the application part.
Thanks and Regards,
Abhishek Duivedi
Hi Abhishek Duivedi,
As I mentioned earlier, what you are trying to achieve is Priority power Muxing. Using 2x TPS25947 device is PMux configuration saves cost, board space and has high reliability compared to using discrete components.
HI Praveen,
Can you please help me with the implementation. I am not getting the implementation part. I only want to turn off the battery when external power supply is detected and rest of the time battery remains in operation.
Hi Abhishek,
Unfortunately we will not be able to support discrete circuitry. Please let us know if you need help on designing PMUX circuit using TI devices.
Hi Praveen,
Please help with the PMUX circuit using TI devices.
That would be very help full
Hi Abhishek,
Please share voltage rating of the power supply in each rail and max load current. I will suggest a suitable part accordingly.
external power supply voltage = 24V
Battery maximum voltage = 8V
Max load current =3A
Hi Abhishek,
You will need to use 2x LM74800-Q1 in priority power mux configuration as shown below for your application.
