TPS745-Q1: Design review

Part Number: TPS745-Q1

Hi TI engineers:

In our project, we use TPS74501-Q1 ,and for this chip we have a question for its “PG” PIN , in TI  datasheet ,the typical application for PG should pull-up to Vout as you can see picture 1,we want to know if we can pull-up to other power rail such as MCU power rail(picture 2)?We are not sure whether PG can detect the output status if we connect PG to other power rails

  • Hi Yepeng,

The PG Pin is an output for the PG status of the device. It is not sensing the rail that it is tied to, it is using that rail as a pull up in the open drain configuration. Any high rail can be used to pull up the pin. It senses internally whether the error amplifier is being supplied with voltages within 92% of the bandgap. So your application is completely acceptable and will maintain PG functionality as the logic is internally sensed.

    John

  • Hi John,

      Thanks for your reply.
