TPS7A4001: Operation at -65C

Part Number: TPS7A4001

Hi

We are operating at -65C we realise this is outside the minimum temperature of -40C. The output of the device just stays at zero volts we would like to know what is the most likely cause for this i.e would it be the current limit? or any of the other protection circuits.

The input voltage is 21V and the output set to give 11.4V. If we raise the input to 23V the regulator functions correctly

The device  is not damaged by this temperature and does operate at -65C with an input voltage of 24V.

Thanks John

  • Hi John,

Has the current been measured and/or any sort of waveforms have been captured, i.e startup?

The device has internal features that help protect it during certain operating conditions, i.e Temperature which works more as a comparison if the device is within the given operating conditions.

As stated, we cannot guarantee the performance and/or behavior of the device beyond what is listed in our DS. Having said that, I assume that by increasing Vin it allows the device to generate some drive to internally turn on.

With all this said, this device is characterized only to -40, therefore, behavior beyond this is unknown.

    Best,
