As of now the TPS65381 and TPS65381A devices are the same Si.

Thanks Alex! Unfortunately that does not help me in a situation where TPS65381 chips which were built in years past are sold to me. What date codes of TPS65381 are the same Si and which older date codes are the older Si?

Hi Conor,

It will be difficult to provide an exact date code as to when the devices would be different. Can you send the Lot Trace Codes and/or the top side markings of the parts in question? That way we can look back at their lot history and see which Si revision they used.

Alex,

I do not have a suspect lot at present. I just want to know what dates (or at minimum, what years) are acceptable if my vendor suggests substituting TPS65381 when they cannot find TPS65381A. Are all 2021 TPS65381 equivalent? What about 2020? 2019? Any guidance would be helpful.

Hi Connor,

TPS65381-Q1 devices produced after 2018 should be using the latest silicon revision. However we cannot guarantee the specific silicon revision without investigating the LTC information. I would recommend using TPS65381A-Q1 devices as the non-A devices are Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND).
