BQ24195L: USB type detection issue

Guru 11850 points

Part Number: BQ24195L

Hello,

My customer designed a product using the BQ24195LRGER.

They are confirmming USB Charger type through USB data line.

When connected to a specific USB Hub (ORICO CT2U3-10AB), there is an issue that it is only recognized as an adapter port.

When connected to a general USB hub, PC or laptop, it is recognized as a USB host, but when connected only to the above hub, it is recognized as an adapter.

Please advise on the cause of this symptom and how to solve it.

Thank you.

JH

  • Hi JH,

I have looked at the product details webpage for the ORICO CT2U3-10AB device and it markets this particular multi port hub as "supports BC1.2 charging protocol and gives 1.5A output for each port."

Based on this information the BQ24195L is correctly recognizing this input. If the charger recognized this USB Hub as an USB host then the current limit would be set to 500 mA instead of the 1.5A it is designed for.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
