ULN2803C: power rating of this device

Part Number: ULN2803C

Hi Expert,

We are going to have a design with 24Vin and 24Vout with 500mA/ch solution as digital output.

We're wondering that if ULN2803C could make it? Or is there other solutions could fulfill this requirement?

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Cindy

  • Hi Cindy,

How many channels are you needing? The ULN2803C can drive 500mA if only one channel is used.

If more channels are added the current rating of each channel is derated depending on the number of outputs conducting simultaneously and the duty cycle.

Please further describe your loading conditions for this system.

    Best Regards,

    Elizabeth

  • Hi Elizabeth,

Customer need 8 ch as source type digital output. At first they're finding 3.3V GPIO to 24V digital output solutions with 20mA/ch so we find ULN2803C. However, customer also wondering that could it achieve 24Vin 24Vout and support 500mA at each channel.

    Thank you.

    Best Regards,

    Cindy

  • Hi Cindy,

I have reached out to our internal team to see if we can provide any data on the current capability with all channels conducting simultaneously, however this will not be up to 500mA at each channel when all channels are conducting at the same time.

Do you know what duty cycle the customer is intending to operate at?

    Best Regards,

    Elizabeth
