CSD19532Q5B: Avalanche current rating of body diode

Part Number: CSD19532Q5B

Hey,

In the Datasheet is only mentioned the avalanche energy for single pulses.
What current can the body diode withstand permanently e.g in case of the avalanche effect?

Is it rated for the same current as its output?

Kind regards

  • Gian,

Thanks for the interest in our MOSFETs, the current handling capability of the body diode is equivalent to the FET, however in reality you need to understand the power dissipation P=VI since the diode Vf is ~0.8V, you need to stay within temperature limits of the device.

It seems you are looking to consistently avalanche the device, I would not recommend this. Avalanche is there for intermittent/one off cases not every switching cycle. Avalanche is very difficult to control the energy and can cause damage to the FET over time potentially leading to failure.

    Thanks

    Chris
