Hi,

We consider to use the TPS65994AE+TUSB1104 for the type-C and USB 3.2 application, but now we have no EC device for the I2C master control, so we have below issue for this application:

1. We consider to use one port of TPS65994AE and reserved the other port for the next new design, so how to design the reserved port, connect GND or floating？

2. How to recognite the forward and reverse insertion for the type-C interface without EC, and TPS65994 can automatic identification or not?

3. How to set output rate of the type-C to 20Gbps, and can we twine the two ports of TUSB1104 to one ports for the output, thanks.

1. It can be grounded and configured in the PORT_CONFIG register, DISABLE_PD field, in the TI Application Customization GUI.
2. There are GPIO and I2C events in the TPS65994AE that can detect cable orientation. Orientation is reported in the STATUS register, PLUG_ORIENTATION field. You can use a GPIO as output by configuring GPIO in the Application Customization GUI.
3. To set the output rate, set the TX_IDENTITY register to set the USB high speed setting in the Application Customization GUI. You can tie FLIP input of TUSB1104 to a GPIO output on the TPS65994AE.
