BQ40Z50-R2: BQ40Z50:PBS of batterymode()

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi,engineer:

     1.I noticed the PBS of Bit in batterymode(), Can this register be set to 1 to support dual-power systems?

     2.In BQStudio, I changed the SBS configuration-Initial Battery Mode to 8081, but using host to read 0x03 BatteryMode() is still 0001. What caused this.

      Look forward to your reply!

  • Hello Guoqing,

    The last comment of the linked post should help answer this question, the PBS bit is just and indication bit, it doesn't change the behavior of the gauge, all control should be on the host side.

    Also the Initial Battery Mode can be updated so at bootup the correct battery mode will be displayed. I also did do a quick test and I was able to edit the PBS bit doing a write word command to 0x03. I would double check which packet structure you are using and make sure it is SMBus word format.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
