Hi,
I want to use bq34z100 as suggested by TI expert . I want to monitor the battery charging/discharging current.
I want to make the board more flexible so if i change the battery then i can manipulate things in software instead of hardware.

Right now i am using a 7S8P battery with datasheet attached but i might use bigger battery in the future. I want to monitor the battery voltages in stackup mode instead of single cell.

I have following question.

I am following reference design of EVM board but its specifications aren't desirable especially current rating. What i should consider to use it for higher current rate like 20A discharge current?
The battery that i have contained 4 wires. one pair for charging the battery and one pair for discharging as battery contained self BMS. How i should make connection with battery terminal in EVM?
Can i use aardvark instead of EV2300 to communicate with Studio?

The only thing you need to ensure is that the current flows through the sense resistor, that's why there's only one net for top of stack since BQ34Z100 doesn't have protection FETs.

EV2400 with BQStudio is recommended communication method. Aardvark support is not present.

I read all FAQ but I couldn't find the desire answers for the above questions.
I will buy EV2400. Although, it do not stated that it support BQ34Z100 in supported product list.

I rephrase the questions to explain in a better way.

Battery Pack Connection:

The battery that i have contained 4 wires. one pair for charging the battery and one pair for discharging as battery contained self BMS. How i should make connection with battery terminal in EVM?

If i look at this diagram then I should connect battery pack discharging wires at BAT+ & BAT - points while Charging wires at BAT + and Pack -. Correct me if i am wrong plz. Also, there is a sperate block for protection. Should i add this protection other than EVM externally?
The 2nd question is about the flexibility of hardware. If you are referring to FAQ to scaling the parameters then I believe it is when battery pack is out of the maximum limit of BQ34Z100.
As in the datasheet, it says that it can support 29Ah and 3 to 65V so I am under these ratings.
This schematic is ideal for me except how to optimize asterisk parts according to the requirements.

Hello Ali,

The app note and FAQ explain the details about scaling the current for higher capacity applications. Also the new BQ34Z100-R2 has the ability to do the scaling internally.

BQ34Z100 should not be used any longer, it is an older firmware version, it does not have BQStudio support. You can upload the -G1 or -R2 firmware to the BQ34Z100 hardware.
