TPS65988: Unable to save binary file using Application Customization Tool

I took a few months off from a project where I have two TPS65988 devices on the same I2C device. I have a project file for the configuration generated with the application customization tool which contains the configuration for both PD controller ICs. I am no longer able to generate a binary file using the application customization tool, as I get this error:

I am not sure what is causing this issue. I have my project file backed up in source control, so I was able to checkout the exact file I was using a few months back when this was working. Any ideas on how I can work around this issue?

I received the binary and project file.

Are you using the 6.1.3 GUI?

Can you try creating a new project and import the setting from the old.pjt and see if you can save the binary?

Hi Tommy,

Yes, I tried importing the settings but I still got the same error:

I am using version 6.1.3. Is it possible that my firmware image was maybe corrupted or something?

Hi Cory,

I think you are directly loading the old.pjt in the GUI (based on the Configuration File Name and the Used Application Configuration Size).

I created a new project on the 6.1.3 GUI on my end and imported the settings from the old.pjt you provided and the Used Application Configuration Size comes out at 0x239 (569 bytes). It is likely the project got corrupted or have multiple duplicate region.

Hi Tommy,

Thanks for sending the project, but unfortunately, I need access to some of the features that are available only in the advanced template.

If I create a new project with the advanced template, and then import old.pjt, then the configuration size is too large. However, if I create a new project with the standard template, and then import old.pjt, then the configuration size is 0x239 (I believe this is what you did).

Is there any way I can recover my project with the advanced configuration options?

Hi Cory,

After checking internally this seems to be a bug with the 6.1.3 GUI where sometimes the imported setting from an existing project will stack on top of the template setting.

I have copied all the setting (from device 1 port 1 and 2, config set 2 port 1 and 2, and I2C controller events) of your old project to a new project I created and the size come out to 0x321

I will send this the new project to you via direct message.

Hi Tommy,

Sounds good. Thank you for doing that. Do you know if the bug is also present in 6.1.2? I think I still have the installer for that version somewhere, so I could switch over to that version if it will prevent this issue.

Hi Cory,

To my knowledge this issue is also on 6.1.2. Our team does have plan on releasing a new GUI that will fix this problem but the timeline is TBD due to some internal workflow.
