BQ2980: RC values

Part Number: BQ2980

Hi Team,

I want to use the BQ298000RUGR to protect my 3.7V lipo battery, but I don't understand the schematic on the datasheet.

If you can you tell me, what the value of RSNS should be and what "Scale RC values for system reset timing means" and what External FET Overdrive control is, it would be very nice

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hello Danilo,

All of this information is in the datasheet. See Section 8.3.7 CTR for FET Override and Device Shutdown for explanation on the FET overdrive control.

The RSNS is the sense resistor. This is used for current protections. This needs to be sized depending on when you want the OCD/OCC/SCD protections to trigger. Which would be dependent on your part's thresholds and sense resistor used. To see a list of our parts released and thresholds, you can read it in Section 5 Device Comparison Table

A small example of the sense resistor selection can be found in Section 9.2.1.2 Detailed Design Procedure. With the BQ298000RUGR and a 1-mOhm sense resistor, your thresholds would be:

    • OCD = 8-A
    • OCC = 8-A
    • SCD =  20-A

    Hope this helped!

    Best Regards,

    Luis Hernandez Salomon
