TPS629210: VSET internal voltage divider versus FB external voltage divider

Hello,

What is the intended usage of the VSET internal voltage divider? Just one less external component required?

Are there any obvious pros/cons I am missing? It seems to function nearly identically to the FB external voltage divider mode.

The only difference I can find is Table 8-1 from the datasheet (below) indicates that dynamically switching modes between Auto PFM/PWM and Forced PWM can only be done when using external FB.

Is this the only consideration?

Hi Luis,

Besides less external components with smaller solution size, VSET mode has lowest operating quiescent current at no load and more accurate output voltage due to no feedback resistors. Yes, you are right. Dynamically switching modes between Auto PFM/PWM and Forced PWM can only be done when using external FB.

Hi Luis,

VSET mode could not set every output voltage. There are only 18 options in table 8-2. That is the limitation.
