TPS22990: Asking for the SOA curve of TPS22990

Part Number: TPS22990

Hi team,

My customer is using TPS22990 for their new design, and they also plan to test the SOA curve by multiplying the Irush and Vds, and they want to know the maximum value of product of Irush and Vds.

Furthermore, they also want to know how to test the Irush by oscilloscope.

Wish you have a good day, looking forward to your reply.

  • Hello Jerry,

We do not have a SOA curve generated for this device nor most of our load switches. Our load switches are tested extensively across temperature to the specifications listed in the datasheet. For nominal behavior you can use worst case layout JEDEC Rthetaja, ambient temperature, maximum Ron of the device, and load current to estimate the junction temperature of the device; however, this is not accurate for a transient such as inrush current during turn on. Please follow up via email on this topic.

Apply 5V to VIN/VBIAS, and using another supply to enable the device with a current probe clamped on the output of the device (before load & load capacitance) is one way. Measuring from the source won't be as accurate but could still suffice.
