Hello,

I'm working on a solar-powered project. I'm thinking about using the bq24780S to charge the battery, so I want to know if it's feasible to do MPPT with an external MCU?

I know that there is chips optimized for MPPT, but this chip is much cheaper and available in big quantities.

BQ24780S is a host-controlled charger. The flexibility is there to change charge voltage, charge current, as well as to start and stop charging at any time.

Yes, you are free to implement any MCU algorithm utilizing the charger's flexibility.
