LM25141-Q1: LM25141-Q1

Part Number: LM25141-Q1

We are planning to replace the existing 10 nF capacitor in the DITH pin using alternate part due to the component shortage. Can you share me what type of validation is possible to make sure the existing part and alternate part are compatible, From my understanding from the datasheet planning to do below two types of validations.

1. With alternate 10 nF capacitor and existing part connected measure the waveform across the 10 nF capacitor and make sure the amplitude, frequecy and slope of the triangular waveform is similar with existing part and alternate part.

2. EMC test to make sure no violations EMC violations happening.

Whether my understanding is correct or any other better options available for the same. Expecting your immediate reply.

  • Hello,

The DITH cap just sets the modulating frequency for spread spectrum. If you're replacing like with like for this timing cap (i.e. same case size, cap value, voltage rating and dielectric), there should be no impact. Even with some variation, it won't appreciably affect the EMI performance. Your validation tests seem fine, with #2 focusing on conducted /radiated emissions in particular.

    Regards,
