TPS3850-Q1: VCore and VIO timing requirement

Part Number: TPS3850-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3703-Q1, , TPS35-Q1, TPS36-Q1, TPS3850, TPS35, TPS36

Hi, Team:

Can you help to check if can power Vcore before VIO voltage?

The application is customer want to power the VIO to get lower Iq while need the Vcore voltage.

Thanks

  • Hi Alpha,

Thank you for your question. Just for clarification, Vcore would be VDD and VIO is rail monitored on SENSE pin?

If that is the case, Voltage on the SENSE pin can go up before VDD for this device.

  • Hi, Jesse:

Yes, Vcore is Sense pin and VIO is VDD. Sorry for confuse. The name is from datasheet page 1 typical block diagram. The question update as below:

Can you help to check if can power Sense pin before VDD voltage?

The application is customer want to power off the VDD to get lower Iq while need the Sense voltage to power the MCU.

If not, can you advise if we have better solution to cover this requirement?

I'm thinking add one lower Iq TPS3703-Q1 for voltage monitor while TPS3850-Q1 only worked as watch dog.

Besides, I find TPS35-Q1 or TPS36-Q1 has lower Iq, can you help to share me the latest datasheet and schedule?

  • Hi Alpha,

For the TPS3850, the sequencing between Vsense and VDD does not matter. Vsense can have voltage applied while VDD is off.

Further discussion about the TPS36 and TPS35 is going to be continued on email. Closing this issue.
