BQ77207: open-wire detection

Part Number: BQ77207

Hello,
We are looking to get some more info on how open wire detect works.
Particularly cell 1.  If cell one was held at 0.5V for > 4 seconds due to low SOC and/or high load current, would the OW trip?
Is the timer for open-wire the same as the OVP/UVP?  Why is cell1 different from the other cells?
Regarding the hysteresis, the OW will recover immediately if it goes above 600mV?

Thank you, Keith

  • Hello Keith,

I spoke with our systems engineer about the timer, he mentioned that once it detects OW it should be very quick, in the us range 4 seconds as stated in the datasheet. The OW would likely trip if the cell voltage were to become that low. Yes, OW will recover immediately.

Cell 1 OW is different because the device cannot go too much below Vss, so the voltage needed is a bit higher.

Tomorrow I will try to test the cell 1 at below 0.5-V condition to see how it behaves.
