UCC27624: The spec of continuous output current

Part Number: UCC27624

Could you provide the spec of continuous output current. Since we concern is the temperature rise of IC, that’s depending on the continue current capacity.

Could you also supply the temperature rise curve?

BR, Gary

  • Hello Gary,

You should get a good estimate by using P = I2*R, using these as the R:

Here is a curve I made based on the math estimate, assuming you are sourcing current and not sinking.

The DGN package has better thermal dissipation so it can theoretically handle more current.

This isn't really what the gate driver ICs are designed for, and we did not include this spec for this driver. The estimate doesn't include how the parameters of the internal FET will change as it heats up. I also didn't include the voltage drop which is pretty significant at >300mA. Basically, UCC27624 can likely support 300-400mA, but there is no guarantee for performance.

    Thanks,

    Alex M.
