Hi,
I need schematic review designed based on BQ34Z100PWR-G1. I also have following question regarding design.

The load/charger should connect with BAT+ and pack - points. In my case, the load will be internal circuitry on the board i.e. 5V regulator etc. I am confused about the GND point that either i should connect GND of other circuit with BAT- or Pack - point. I believe it should connect with pack - assuming all these circuits as load.

Hello Ali,

Bat- is ground for bq34z100. Pack- is ground for system.

So the actual GND for the board will be Pack -. Right?

If correct then what will be the GND reference for IC itself?

Can you elaborate the answer in detail plz?

Hello Ali,

I think this post was not marked pending earlier, so didn't realize it was not answered.

Ground reference for IC is the negative terminal of the battery. The sense resistor is in the path for the load to complete the circuit.

Hi Shirish

You said GND reference for IC(BQ34Zxxxx) is BAT- then Why all other IC's have same GND on EVM.
I make it simple for you.

I have a MCU circuit that will get power from battery. The MCU circuit GND will be BAT- or Pack -?
I want to monitor the charging and discharging of the battery.
Also, if i send you schematic in private message. Can you review it plz?

MCU and other ICs should use PACK- as ground

Hi,
I believe you can find it internally because TI always provide design files for their reference designs and EVM. It will be very helpful for me.
Also, I have a question about the function of a push button on EVM. What is its actual purpose on board?
