BQ35100: Some question about the application of BQ35100

Part Number: BQ35100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400

Hi TI Teams,

We are intend to use BQ35100 to measure the battery capacity which based on a 550mAh Li-lon battery, with the operating currents of (7~30uA) and (100~300uA) respectively. Can u help to confirm whether this fuel gauge is suitable? If not, can u gave us some bettery suggestion for our application?

In addition, we also want to confirm that does chem id setting require a special adapter like EV2300 or EV2400? Or can we use the I2C of MCU to set it directly?

Thanks,

Kind Regards

  • Hello Lumina,

Can you share the datasheet or cell specification of the battery you are intending on using? The BQ35100 is a primary battery gauge designed for non-rechargeable batteries.

If you are using it in ACC or EOS mode you would not need the chem ID upload so you could do all the setup with your MCU, although we recommend using EV2400 for debug and golden file creation. If you plan to use SOH mode then you would need the EV2400 to upload the proper chem ID.

EOS can also use the chem ID to estimate SOH based on Ra table in the chem ID but this is usually not very accurate and isn't recommended.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
