BQ27Z561-R2: Estimating Fuel Gauge RSOC Error Using OCV

Part Number: BQ27Z561-R2

Hi Team,

Please help to check whether the error evaluation method below is feasible.

When the battery is discharged for a period of time, record the RSOC A value reported by the fuel gauge, let the battery stand for a long enough time (Relax), measure the OCV, and get the SOC B according to the OCV curve. to calculate the error.

Also, I have a few questions:
1. If I get a custom chemical ID, can I get the OCV curve or table?
2. After the cell has been left for a sufficient time (Relax), whether the fuel gauge will update and report a RSOC C, which is almost equal to SOC B.

Thanks.

Regards,
Hailiang

  • Hello Hailiang,

The error calculation with the above method will not work. Battery capacity is a function of many conditions including the load characteristics.

The best way to calculate is to integrate current over time and check against gauge reported capacity.
