BQ28Z610-R1: Programming *.bq.fs or *.df.fs file?

Part Number: BQ28Z610-R1

Hello,

we are using the BQ28Z610-R1 fuel gauge in a product. The product does exactly what we want (and therefore the fuel gauge as well).

Now we try to implement a "in-system-update mechanism" of the fuel gauge via I2C directly from our main-microcontroller.

Currently we are still developing the software but it looks very good already. But one question has arisen:

The "Golden Image" contains a "*.bq.fs" and "*.df.fs" file. Which one should we use and for what reason?

Best regards

Andre

  • Hello Andre,

The BQ.FS contains the firmware and data flash, the DF.FS only contains the data flash. For example if you had BQ28Z610-R1 units but you want BQ28Z610-R2 you could make your golden image the BQ.FS file and it would update the firmware from R1 to R2 along with all your data flash settings. The DF.FS you would need to make sure you have the correct firmware version before uploading.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
