TPS55340EVM-147: Design question

Part Number: TPS55340EVM-147

Hi Team,

Would you kindly help clarify the question below about the EVM design?

1. What is the purpose of C11? If I add a capacitor, what is the max value that I can use?

2. As per the EVM user's guide, the voltage setpoint resistor (R1,R2) shoult be close to the IC. What would happen If I am unable to place them close to the IC? what work around should I do?

I am hoping for your response.

Regards,

Marvin

  • Hello Marvin,

    1. C11 is a space where another cap can be added, e.g. to reduce the ripple. You can add whichever value you want, but for higher values you need to check if the converter is still stable.

    2. You have to place them close to the IC, otherwise you have a long high-impedance line on the board that will pickup noise. Worst case the regulation will not work at all, but for sure it will regulate badly.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
