One of our customer is considering ,’ BQ40Z50 board design for their 4 Cell battery pack’.

Could you please help the customer with the below, seems the customer already followed the documentation but still they could not able to follow.

Could you please let me know the possibility for a short call to quickly support ?

Configuring the device
Our Pack configuration is 4s6p. How to configure the device with the pack max capacity
How to configure the internal resistance values of the Cell
We have to do some charge and discharge cycles to ensure the functioning of the device.

We are stuck in testing with the given evaluation board. We need TI support to complete the evaluation and proceed further.

Hello Sandeep,

The number of parallel cells does not necessarily matter, what we need to know if the actual capacity of each cell and if we go over the maximum for the gauge (~30Ah). If they do go over then we will need to scale the capacity and current.

The customer should never configure the internal resistance of the cell in the gauge. Impedance Track gauges automatically update the resistance of the cells during discharge. The initial learning takes place during the learning cycle. They should fully review the guide we have on how to successfully complete a learning cycle.
