TPS65988DK: Loading configuration into IC

Part Number: TPS65988DK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS6598X-CONFIG,

Hi Experts,

We need your assistance with our customer's inquiry. I have shared the full details below.

I need assistance with how to load the configuration into TPS65988DK IC. What I have found so far is that the available TPS6598X-CONFIG tool is only compatible with the DH version of the IC and that they have major firmware differences between them. I need to generate a configuration and want to upload it through I2C and I only need application configuration modification. Why I need it because I tested to power my board with resistors to BP_WaitFor3V3_External config, where external MOSFETs are enabled so my board can receive power. But immediately after that IC also receives 3v3 input with makes it put into safe mode where all the MOSFETs are closed no there's no longer power for my board. So I tried to change the resistor config to BP_ECWait_External. The power issue is fixed but there is a misunderstanding what's the meaning of "The device infinitely tries to load configuration.". Is it an actual process where I need to load configuration through I2C that activates some flags that configuration is now loaded, or is it just formal that configuration can be loaded just by modifying some of the I2C registers but already works normally? Anyways I'd like to configure the base configuration using the application configuration tool, so I don't need to manually modify every single register individually to default. Is there a way to gain access to that tool? Also at some point, I need to modify some of the registers manually, is there an available I2C register table for the DK version, since there are only some of the registers compatible with the DH I2C table?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Jonathan
