TPS65217: TPS65217 IC

Part Number: TPS65217

We are using your TPS65217 IC in one of our project .We are getting one issue in field side that boards becomes non-functional .After checking we found that Octavo processor SYS_VOUT pin is unable to produce 5V .

As per PMIC datasheet, brownout condition will come when 5 V is dropped below 3.3V under voltage lockout and recovered before reaching 100mV. In this scenario, PMIC is not able to detect power rise and remains in lockout condition.

Since Octavo has  TPS65217 IC as PMIC which can enters   into lock up when below condition comes.

This condition comes very rare but we want to solve this issue but unable to reproduce this issue at our end ,can you please help us how we can create this issue  in our board.

Regards,

Vipin

  • Hi Vipin,

We don't have a reliable way to cause the issue to manifest other than what is described in the following document: Designing Robust TPS65217 Systems for VIN Brownout

There are a number of work arounds described in this application note that can be applied depending on your specific use case.

The excerpt below comes from Section 1 of that document.

Take a look at the case descriptions in Section 2 to see which one fits your situation. We have the workarounds listed starting in Section 3.

    Regards,

    James
