TPS61199: Design questions

Part Number: TPS61199

Hi Team,

Customer have some questions in design and need support team to comment :

  1. If the input frequency of the PWM pin exceeds the range of 100 Hz to 22 kHz defined in the spec such like using 32KHz PWM dimming, will there be any side effects on the design? Will IC dimming at 32K or lock at 22K?
  2. High/low of the EN Pin is to control the driver turn off the boost convert or just turn off to sink LED current?
  3. After check this E2E thread(link), As long as Vout meets the limit of IFB pin 30V max voltage(Consider the LED VF@ leakage current of 10uA minimum), even if Vout exceeds 60V such like 70V, is it still okay?
  4. Suppose we don't use so many IFB pins, can the IFB pins be floating? Or how to design?

Thanks!

BR,

Kai

  • Hi Kai,

    1. PWM frequency higher than 22kHz might not be detected by IC accurately thus will cause the LED brightness out of expect.

    2. EN pin is to control the boost converter.

    3. Yes, if the LED is turned off, the IFBx voltage should be lower than 30V to prevent potential damage.

    4. Unused IFB pins are recommended to connect to GND.
