TPS62110: Kindly share the calaculations

Part Number: TPS62110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS629203

Hi Can you share the calculations for TPS62110MRSAREP

VIN=10V(4-20mA)

VOUT=3.3V

IOUT=0.01A(Only 6mA required)

FSW=1MHz

Can you share the calculation for both inductor input and output capacitor

I had selected CIN=10uF,L=6.8uH,COUT=22uF

  • Yes, this is internally compensated device so you can pick the 6.8uH inductor and 22uF Cout. Cin looks fine. Detailed application information section is on page 15 of datasheet. If the IOUT requirement is that low, you can also check other parts like TPS629203 instead.

    Thanks,

    Amod

  • But I can't calculate it and prove. The calculated value doesn't meet the recommended value. For design verification purpose I need to provide the calculations.

    So can you please share the calculations of CIN, COUT and L With relevant equation. It could be helpful for me to submit the proof of component choosing.

    Please provide this as soon as possible

  • Please read through section 10 Application and Implementation on page 15 of datasheet. This has equations for every component listed in there. Specifically on the inductor, you will end up with a very large value if you use 10mA Iout in the ripple calculations - I would recommend sticking with a 6.8uH inductor in this case as that is the recommended value in most cases.

    Again, I would also suggest checking the lower current parts like TPS629203 since you are only drawing 10mA or lower output current in your application.

    Thanks,
    Amod

  • I tried the calculations. But for CIN and COUT I can reach the actual value.. it is totally different. Can you please help me on this. It is not about the calculation some considerations are different. And also can you tell me what will happen if the output current is too low,since you are recommending 6.8 uH for every application

  • I just sent you a simplified excel via email to show general considerations while picking L, Cin and Cout. You can follow up via email if any questions.

    Thanks,

    Amod

  • from where you got these below information's. Kindly share the sourse

    0.01 Steady-state ripple percentage of Vout
    0.033 Absolute max Vo ripple requirement
    0.05 Load transient step
  • These are typical buck converter design guidelines. You can change them to your liking. As I said earlier, if any more questions on the excel, please reply to the email I sent instead.
