BQ79616EVM-021: No response for auto-addressing read commands

Hi

Are you able to communicate with 600 and 616 by USB2ANY? If yes, it means the 600 and 718 hardware are good, then there must be something wrong with your coding. Can you capture the waveforms at SPI and between 600 and 616?  

Yes, the communication works with 600 and 616 through USB2ANY. 

The sample code is used for the auto addressing process. Attached are the waveforms captured for the first read command in the auto-addressing sequence. The read command is:

SpiReadReg(0, OTP_ECC_DATAIN1, autoaddr_response_frame, 1, 0, FRMWRT_STK_R);

The SPI_RDY line goes low when the read command is sent.

If you are using the sample code from TI my secure, did you updated the 'TOTALBOARDS' macro to reflect 2 stack devices.

Yes, the 'TOTALBOARDS' macro has been set to 2 already.

Did you see a response frame between 600 and 616 after read command?

Can you compare the waveforms of auto addressing with GUI and your own code?

That either likely means the 600 hardware is misconfigured or the software is misconfigured. We should expect a signal from 600 to 616 if those are setup correctly. Can you please double check?

A signal is seen from 600 to 616 but no signal is seen to be sent from 616 to 600.

Unfortunately, I don't have a logic analyzer.

Whenever the following read command is sent as part of the auto addressing procedure, the SPI_RDY line goes low and doesn't become high again as can be seen in the attached scope screenshot.

Can you please help me understand why the SPI_RDY remains low?

Because there is no response frame received so SPI_RDY remains low. Can you please check your CRC algorithm and value for the read command? If the CRC is wrong, the devices will discard the command and no response frame will be transmitted.
