BQ24133: BQ2413 output abnormal

Part Number: BQ24133

Hi,

Something is wrong with my circuit.

Input voltage VIN=13V, set 3 battery output. The measured no-load output voltage is only 7.4V, and the measured voltage at pin 14 is 3.3V. Please help me review the problems in the circuit, thank you very much

  • Hi Alon,

What is the STAT pin reporting?  If the battery is close to the termination voltage (12.6V), the charger might be in sleep mode since input voltage = 13V-Vdiode=0.6V = 12.4V is less than the battery voltage.  The input voltage must be at least 200mV above the final battery voltage for the charge to be able to fully charge the battery.

    Regards,
    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

The LED on the STAT pin is blinking, it does not seem to be a problem with the input voltage, the test input is 14V, and the input is only 7.4V. thanks.

  • HI Alon,

Blinking STAT means one of the faults below:

I recommend checking the following pin voltages for the following faults:

charge suspend: TS is at the range below:

charge suspend: ACSET > 0V should be okay since ACN=ACP

input overvoltage: OVPSET is at desired voltage

battery absent: confirm that SRN isn't pulsing like shown below

battery overvoltage: CELLS pin is high

Below is a design spreadsheet that might help with double checking your resistor values:
