BQ24192: Register Settings

Part Number: BQ24192

Hello Team,

We are using a BQ24192 battery charger in our system with the following configurations.

- The Battery is connected to the output of BQ24192 with an additional fuse in the series.

We are facing an issue with the battery charge voltage, battery charging is getting stopped at 3.9V instead of 4.2V.

Do we need to change any register settings due to the addition of the fuse in series with the battery?

For reference, I've also attached the register settings that currently we are using.

REG00 0x2F
REG01 0x10
REG02 0x90
REG03 0x11
REG04 0xB3
REG05 0x86
REG06 0x03
REG07 0x40
REG08 Not Using
REG09 Not Using
REG0A Not Using

Kindly refer and help to debug the issue.

Thanks,

Kaushal

  • Hi Kaushal,

The fuse in series on the power path from BQ24192 BAT pin to battery is likely causing a voltage drop. To confirm this as you are approaching the end of charge measure the voltage as close to the BAT pin as possible. If your board does not have a test point measure the voltage across the BAT pin output capacitor. My guess is this voltage will be approaching 4.2V while the actual battery voltage is approx. 0.3V less.

To combat this you can look to increase the charge voltage limit (VREG) set in REG04 to offset the voltage drop caused by the fuse.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
