BQ2980: package dimension

Part Number: BQ2980

Hi Team,

My customer is studying our BQ2980 but we found that the dimension look like doesn't match each other as below picture shown.

Could you please check whether the length of Y-axis is 1.85mm or 1.86mm(0.58 x 2 + 0.7)?

Best regards,

Hardy

  • Hello Hardy,

This seems accurate to me, it may have been rounded-up. These also are not the package dimensions, this is an example of the board layout pads were the device could be soldered to.

For example, to get the highlighted ones on the left: (1.85 - 0.7)/2 = 0.575mm. If we round up we get 0.58mm like the right. This may also be way there's the discrepancy with the measurement.

I believe 1.85mm is more accurate than 1.86mm. So they may use that. This is an example, I don't believe there would be much difference if either one is used regardless.

They could also download our device's symbol from the product page and evaluate how it may look on their board:

  • Hi Luis,

    Thanks for your reply.

Customer would like to use our BQ2980 but we are gating at this dimension mismatch of datasheet. It cause customer cannot apply their PN to use. Could you please update the datasheet for correct number? Or, we cannot design in this project.

    Best regards,

    Hardy
