BQ28Z610: The purpose of FD/TD in GAS GAUGING

Part Number: BQ28Z610

As shown in the following figure, we have set the FD/TD in GAS GAUGING. Is this setting appropriate?

We are not familiar with the setting methods for these two functions. Is there a corresponding document for us to refer to on how to set these two parameters?

  • FD and TD are flags that gets set. The values control when it gets set and reset

  • What is the difference between TD and FD values? When setting them, it is based on which parameter, such as setting 2.85V for our Term Voltage. How much should this TD/FD be set.

  • Hello Hy,

Normally FD is set based on the RSOC threshold rather than voltage.

One example is that FD is set when 5% RSOC is reached and TD is set at 0%. FD is used to tell the user that the battery is completely discharged. The user then has enough time to charge the battery. If user continues to use without charging, then TD gets set at 0% and a warning is shown to user that system will shutdown before it shuts down.

A lot depends on the load characteristics. You can use FD flag to turn off high power consumption items like flashlight or high current consumption activities .
